When you have a busy schedule, getting a good night’s
rest could seem like the last thing you have time for.
With a few minor changes, you can assure yourself
a satisfying slumber without losing any precious time.
Create a pre-bedtime routine
We’re creatures of habit.
Find a way to wind down that you can follow every night to get your mind into the mode to sleep.
Perhaps shut off devices at 8pm, have a cup of tea, a warm shower or listen to some calming music and turn the lights off at the same time each night
Make a cut-off time for caffeine and alcohol
Cutting off caffeine in the evening might be an obvious for some, but what about alcohol
Stimulants like caffeine and alcohol interrupt our natural sleep pattern and dehydrates us overnight, resulting in a sleep that isn’t as replenishing.
Set yourself a cut-off time (preferably right after lunchtime) for a satisfying sleep.
Stop overthinking
Back when you were a child, do you remember what it was like to try and sleep the night before your birthday?
That same situation follows us through to adulthood, but instead of excitement, it tends to be more from stress.
Write down and list all the things you need to do tomorrow or in the near future to ease your mind and allow you to have a better rest.
